Sweaters and Boots. I’m So Excited It’s Fall!

Sweaters and Boots

Sweaters and Boots

Fall is in the air.

The afternoons are still hot, but the mornings and evenings are cool.

Soon enough, it will be sweaters-and-boots weather.

And I will be so happy!

I love sweaters and boots.

One thing I don’t like about fall is pumpkin spice lattes.

I never understood the lure.

They’re way too sickeningly sweet.

I’d rather eat pumpkin pie or pumpkin bread or pumpkin cookies.

With black coffee.

Now that’s good eatin’.

There’s another fall thing that I don’t like.

But I can’t say what it is.

I’m the only woman in the history of the world that hates this thing.

Other women would feel betrayed if they knew.

They would fight me.

Literally.

They would chase me down and tar and feather me.

My own family would be first in line.

For the sake of self preservation, I’ll just keep my opinion to myself.

My lips are sealed.

Eventually, this thing will run its course.

It always does.

Meanwhile, I get to wear sweaters and boots.

Spiders – Ewww. It’s that time of year again.

Spiders - Ewww

Spiders – Eww

Spiders – ewww.

On a walk through the park this morning, I stopped short.

Right there on the walking path was an enormous, hairy, mouse-sized spider.

I guess it was freaked out too because it was laid out flat and frozen in fear.

Like a deer in the headlights.

Taking a very, very wide berth, I simply carried on.

And then I stopped short again.

There was another one.

This one was standing tall on its long, creepy, spindly legs, ready to pounce.

Ewww.

I imagined they were planning to tag-team me, with one of them providing a distraction to let the other one attack.

I hobbled away as fast as my postop knee would carry me.

Which wasn’t fast at all.

I took another lap around the park.

The next time around, the massive spider troublemakers were gone.

Which is worse?

Seeing the freaky, creepy, icky Halloween spiders?

Or not seeing them?

But knowing they’re lurking nearby…

This is exactly why I don’t pose for pictures in the flower fields.

Spiders – ewww.

An Agonizing Choice

An agonizing choice

I was hoping for an early frost.

The bugs would die.

And I was planning on dancing on their bug graves.

In bare feet.

But now I’ve had a change of heart.

My tomatoes have had a huge late-season bloom.

I want the frost to hold off a bit.

But I also want the bugs to die.

And I want to dance barefoot.

It’s an agonizing choice.

But it’s not too much to ask, is it?
